We capture the personal recollections of our armed service veterans

so their legacy of bravery, sacrifice and suffering can live on.

Education

Legasee provide students and teachers with unique access to interviews with military personnel who have served their country at some point between 1939 and the present day. The video content is designed for use by students aged 5+ to complement learning in social and political history, citizenship and Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

STOP PRESS

Thanks to funding from 'Awards for all', Legasee has purchased some new camera equipment. This kit has enabled us to train young film makers how to approach an interview. Skills were acquired in framing (focus, white balance and exposure), audio (microphone types and positioning) and shooting for the edit. Along the way we have produced some fabulous interviews and motivated a new batch of film makers to think about history in a different way.  None of this could have been done without the support of the Big Lottery Fund. Thank you.

Legasee can organise [fully funded] educational projects where our Veterans will visit your school or college to talk about their experiences. We supply professional facilitators from relevant industries who will help your pupils get the most from the day.

Contact us if you would like to know what we can do for your school.

“I think showing children how Journalism and writing is relevant to their lives by bringing someone who has a truly amazing story to share is an amazing idea for a project.”

Andreana Lefton, Journalist and writer.

Case study: The Berlin Airlift, GCSE Activity Lessons

Legasee, in partnership with the Heritage Lottery, the British Berlin Airlift Association and Bungay High School have created a fantastic teaching resource for GCSE Key stage 3 students studying the Cold War. Developed for both in-class and homework learning, this series of 5 activity sheets utilise eye witness accounts [available in our archive], discussion points, photographs and memorabilia to create a series of activity sheets that will engage, educate and generate a real interest in this oft-forgotten chapter of British Military History.

Case study: Operation Freedom, A Veteran’s Story

Legasee and the Eastside Educational Trust created a stimulating History Project with the Harbinger Primary School based in East London. In addition to supplying a full size replica Spitfire and a veteran Spitfire pilot, a professional journalist helped the children develop insightful questions to ensure they took ownership of the Q+A session.
