Keeping Britain Afloat Exhibition
A permanent exhibition was launched at The Historic Dockyard, Chatham on 21st May 2015. There were 86 specially invited guests including 19 Convoy Veterans, their families, volunteers, HLF, partners and stakeholders. In addition over 300 visitors to the Historic Dockyard visited the exhibition on that day.
The exhibition is located in a building next to HMS Cavalier which was the Royal Navy's last operational Second World War destroyer and is now preserved at Chatham as a memorial to the 142 British destroyers and over 11,000 men lost at sea during the war.
Since the exhibition opened nearly 40,000 people have visited the exhibition (source: CHDT - Aug7th, 2015).
Feedback has been positive with visitors particularly impressed by the layour and watching the veterans speaking of their own experiences.
