Sergeant Arthur Brown originally joined the Royal Artillery in 1943. He soon found that it wasn’t really exciting enough and when a small group of Officers gave a lecture to some other recruits about some ‘different’ work, he volunteered.
The group were from SOE and he joined Jedburgh team Quinine as a Wireless operator. Arthur parachuted into SW France soon after D-Day to help attack the formidable ‘Das Reich’ Panzer division.
He later became ill and was looked after by the Maquis.
